Re: Original Dead Men
... just yanking Mr. Blake's chain, as habit goes.
A file was sent, though of little use, and possibly one he can't even open. Thus the reason for the file, as too often I'm the opener of foreign files.
And after taking a call from one Town of Machine today, the town mayor was having trouble gettin his mail....
To quote Mr. Blake: I wouldn't trust no words, written down on some forum....you're just as likely to

Re: Original Dead Men
Sometimes I get the urge to scratch. Sometimes I get the urge to...vector. I saw your wish list and prepared to do a little vectorin' of my own.
This one has a total of six designs - the three that I already posted, and three more. One of these days I hope to make it back to the town of Machine and I'll need a project to work on.

Re: Original Dead Men
Perhaps some copy for my next mailer...
Ladies and gentleman, I traveled over jist about half our state to get here this evenin'.
I couldn't get away sooner, because my new gild was a-dryin' at Lobos River, and I
had to see it thru. That gild is now brilliantly dazzlin more gild jobs soon, and payin' me
an income of five thousand dollars a week. I got two others gildin',
and I got sixteen to produce at Antelope. So, ladies and gentleman, if I say I'm a gold man,
you got to agree.
You got a great chance here, ladies and gentleman; but bear in mind, you can lose it all
if you ain't careful. Out of all the fellers that beg you for a chance to gild your glass,
maybe one in twenty will be gold men; the rest will be vinyl slappers, fellas tryin' to
get between you and the gold men, to get some of the benefits that by rights come to you.
Even if you find one that has composition leaf, and means to gild, he'll maybe know nothin'
about gildin', and have to hire out the job on contract-- and then your dependin' on a contractor
that's tryin' to rush the job through, so as to get to another contract just as quick as he can.
But, ladies and gentleman, I do my own gildin', and the gilders that work for me are gilders I know.
I make it my business to be there and see to their gild. I don't lose my tips in the size and spend
months re-orderin'; I don't dirty the size and let a gild go cloudy and ruin the whole purchase.
And, let me tell you, I'm fixed right now like no other man or company in this field. Because my
Lobos River gild has just come in, I got a pack of gold all ready to put to glass. I can load my kit in the truck,
and be there in an hour. I've got business connections, so I can get the screens for the backup,...
such things go by friendship, in a rush like this. That's why I can guarantee to start gildin',
and put the gold back to work. I assure you whatever the others promise to do,
when it comes to the showdown, they won't be there.

Re: Original Dead Men
I was afraid there may be a lightning bolt when I showed Rick Glawson
my first reverse glass sign, and if the Lord had chosen to send one,
who could blame Him? Most of you know who I am. My name is
William Blake. And I’ve been a vinyl slapper for some years. Now,
some time ago, I came face to face with gilded glass, several times.
These signs were brilliant…and I wondered why. Why did I get to see
these signs when so many other slappers hadn’t? Then one day, it
came to me…like the sun breaking through the clouds. God had a
plan for me. He wanted me to gild where I had done so much crappy vinyl
…and try to sell a little gold. To brighten up these towns…which a while ago,
I did so many ugly vinyl jobs. Today, I’d like to tell you that I’ve
bought many packs of gold leaf from Letterhead Sign Supply.
I’m gonna turn them into the finest gold leaf signs between
St. Louis and San Francisco. And they’re gonna need some great
signage…because in a few short years…these signs are gonna be
the envy of the entire Southwest. These are gonna be signs
where the techniques, not just any technique that might do, but
a techniques that will be brilliant, will be employed on every piece.
Ladies and gentlemen, along with the honorable Dead Men…
I’m proud to announce the formation of the
Billy Blake Glass and Design Company!

Re: Original Dead Men
Billy. I wish you would leave these matters entirely to me,
or at the very least do me the courtesy of consulting me
before entering such banter. I am not scolding you, but
I am saying your headstrong ways will lead you into a tight
corner one day. I trust the enclosed reply will let you
conclude your bantering and return to building. Your
facility is in a panic and begging you to attend to more construction.
Yours, S. Noble Jenco.

Got a commission to do up this little ditty, for a friend...
you know anything about a man going around playing a piano?
He's someone you'd remember...
So I whipped out my Jackinson CDs and lit this sucker up from
his Centenial Collection....threw down on it some pirated fonts,
got an approval to do it up, seals, signatures, everything!
I told you you'd never hang me, Jenco!......

Now ya see there.....
Just finished up this little gem, for a friend. Executed on a stock mirror.
Whipped out my Jackinson Main Street Collection, threw down some
obsolete Letterhead Font, sandblasted it from the backside,
3 tone paint fill and some aluminum flitters, framed it up, ready to ship!
Aho!
