That is some very nice work. How will the signs be used? I would think that was an enjoyable project. Enough work to keep your interest, but not enough to bore you. I hope you and the Mrs. are doing well.

Well that design sums it up pretty good...I'd say milking ANY member of the deer family would definitely be a challenge.....
So how many do you have to make? What material was the prototype made from? HDU & PVC?

The use of these are unknown, most likely the CEO's office, the rest probably top management or top sales office.

The prototype was made from corafoam, letters from PVC. Everything was routed in 3D software. The ribbon was ready for paint off the router, the mountains, trees and deer were detailed by hand. The piece was modeled from original art the company's used for years. The final model was made in the same manner, the only change being the pillowed letters. Finals were cast in FRP. 6 were ordered. We're making samples of other designs for prospective customers with the hope of attracting more business.

If other projects come up, the approach will be different. With the recent purchase of a 3D scanner, objects will be modeled in clay, scanned, cleaned, arranged as needed and routed, so that with some hand clean up, models can be produced in a more efficient manner.

Below are a few examples from the scanner. The ribbon is end is from a clay model, the I from a Spanger letter.

Multiples? That's what employee's are for. My Shop Forman/Woman - Kathy - is my best employee, harshest critic, and head of quality control. Unfortunately she's not in the shop to crack the whip as she used to which I sorely miss. I don't like multiples either, but 1. they pay well, and 2. once set up, someone else does the bulk of the work. Besides Mr. Sawatzky... thinking back over your past projects, the first dozen or so rivets would be fun. Problem is, I've seen hundreds, or more. How do those get done, elves?

Dennis, we're doing fine thank you. Kathy's not chasing me like she used to, not that she has to, but she's in good health, and continues to add many smiles to the relationship.

I like those jobs where there are multiples of the same. Get the assembly line a goin' and the pay is better than just doing one. I buy "challenge" butter, good stuff.
