In Duncans words, A terriffic Job, it looks grand. I can see why you debated about the shadow, I think I would have done so, but this ain't my job, an only you know whats in yer heart... Thanks Tony, it's been a great step by step, Pat.

Thanks for all the nice comments and criticisms.

Armand, pouncing is a method of drawing your design on paper, cutting or pouncing holes into the paper along those lines, placing the pattern paper in postion and pouncing charcoal on top to push the powder thru the holes and leave an image in place of the drawn lines, which I then trace over with a sharpie. Some of the pictures show those steps. And a friend of mine and I stopped by your former store about a month ago...sorry we missed you.
Judy, I know we talked, but now, I do it alone. Xmas windows? yeah, was good practice...
Rod, this one's mine, stay in the shadows....and do I really have to explain the Letterhead signature? IOAFS....
Duncan, Pat, Wayne, Jerry, all of you and any of you are welcome here anytime...let me know, I'll give you the tour personally!
Danny, the design for the next one is ready and preliminarily approved by two groups. 'when' is still the question.

Now for the numbers...
I tried and stopped by this building at least ten times during the year of 2007 to acquire the building owners signature of approval
attended at least 6 'Art in Public Places' commission meetings, 2 city council meetings...
approximately 15 hours of intial designs, research, meeting with local historian and scanning of numerous photos
60 hours of pen and ink drawing, tranferings and painting watercolour
150 hours of pattern making and on site mural painting
$4000.00 of equipment rental
$975.00 of paints and sundries
$110.00 of diesel fuel
now...you price!

and Blake...
get that sushi ordered, and a space at the easel ready...
its time for a Mental Health Day.

Aho.

Well, how do you feel?

About havin' that done and all.

Sally, we been watchin' this post now awhile.
Can't exactly say how long, but long.
Ain't anybody we'd rather watch do this work.
You're as good as anybody we've seen, including maybe
all the Walldog boys and me.
The reason you're a bit better than the Walldog boys and me
ain't got nothing to do with steady or fast or fortuitious.
The reason the above name folks aren't better than you
is because you got style!

Your style makes a great mural!

Now....PAINT THE SHADOW YOU! It'll add MORE FEELING!

Thanks for showin' us how it's done!

Oh, Sally, it's been an incomparable pleasure!

Tony this has been great all the way through...Thanks, it good to see someone elses process to make comparisons to your own work and how and were one can improve, so thanks for that...As far as that buggy goes, it the wrong period, cause theres lettering on the back, hehehe...Anyway nice work all around.

Tony,

Thanks for sharing all that you've done. This is just simply a beautiful piece of work. No doubt you get extreme satisfaction from doing work like this. Yes, it's hard work, I'm sure, but still satisfaction at seeing the end product. Simply beautiful!

Tony you are a true master of your craft.

I output digital files all day long at work and the art of sketching and playing with composition has taken a backseat to "Just Getting It Out". I still do artwork the old way for freelance stuff and still enjoy doing roughs until I find something.

I still do freehand lettering and my own art just to keep me sane

great work

Step aside...

thanks for all the nice comments, but you can back off on the 'master' stuff,
that's to past tense for one, I ain't dead...
and two, there's a lot of talented artists we ain't even seen yet.

For those of you who want it, maybe the best advice is no advice,
immerse yourself in as many hands on projects or workshops you can...
one fella gave me a few words many years ago...
'in 10 years, look back on your lettering and pictorial skills'

well, I still have a portfolio containing very first work from '83,
kinda puts it all in perspective...

this is an uncertain kind of work we do.
