Mike Jackson.........where hands can touch (restaurant).. what do you do with the worked ( chipped/etched/clear....no leaf) area ? (after blasting it is not as glossy as front side of glass)perhaps clear coat ? but you would have to that before removing the mask, and there is still the chipping........no.. that would not work.......and then what about using leaf ?.........has to be two panels back to back , then what about condensation..... has to be thermal........there is no way to do a single panel divider using chipped/leaf !.......and what about just using leaf ?.......how would you handle a two-sided glass panel, be it etched/chipped/gilded, and or just gilded? .........thanks for all replies.....vance
As far as the double sided viewing of a chipped panel, I'd probably water gild (from behind), then back up with One Shot gold size. When it was about right, I'd surface gild the back of the glass in the chipped areas. The down side would be worrying about gold size that had settled in small pools and not up to the same tack as the more flat areas. You might experiment with that process, but allowing the clear varnish used to back up the water gild to be the final coat that seals the water gild and protects the inside.
Good luck,
Mike Jackson
