Lincoln Highway mural number 24 - Batavia, IL

Post by Jay Allen »

Number 24 is about to be installed in Batavia, IL

This one tells another story about trolley cars . . . and their eventual demise due to the popularity and speed of automobiles . . .

The photo they supplied is almost 'as is' - except I added a gentleman (that's debatable) in the front left . . . An 'observer' if you will. I hope it looks like 'him' anyway . . .

63 hours to paint the entire pictorial . . . The details in the buildings slowed it all to a crawl. Basically, this is an 8' x 20' mural.

As always, mural panel engineering and border work by the stellar Joe Marshall . . . my design and paint.

The design we presented is the first slide . . . The last is the finished mural - perspective fixed.

Number 25 is for the town of Lynwood, IL and tells the story of Carl Fisher, the creator of the Lincoln Highway . . . Project ends March 31, 2013 - 33 murals in all.
