Help with a 1930's vintage Phillips 66 oil delivery truck

Post by GEET Faulkner »

Looking for help with details of
lettering a truck similar to the
one pictured below.

Maybe you know someone who did these?

The customer's truck I am researching
this for is a Kansas City, Mo truck.
1930 ford with a 29 oil delivery body.

Many of the "Big Companies" back in the
good ole' daze had blue prints for the paint
and lettering..... so for the most part
these old timers were pretty uniform.

Any and all helpful information is greatly
appreciated

THANK YOU!

fuel delivery trucks

I have done a number of these but not Phillips. The industry magazine Check the Oil and their website have been helpful for vintage logos and lettering. Most of the trucks had the name large on the tank sides as the one in the photo. The sides also had the gallonage of the tanks listed and on the rear, the name of the distributor with the total capacity (capy.) listed. The logo on the doors was usually 1/2 the size of the "flat" surface of the door. This was true of Conoco, Shamrock, Carter-Humble, Powerine and Husky to my knowledge.
