sheesh; i've given on-line chat a wide berth until now, and not even sure if this is going through, or if it's idle social chit-chat, but...
today would've been my father's birthday. in a fit of missing him, and procrastinating from my actual work, i googled him, just for the . of it, morbidly knowing that he died pre-internet, and so his life's work doesn't exist, perversely, in one sense, except for a lot of yellow newsprint and the five contentious, word-addicted children he spawned. and then i saw one of your guys' posting about the Charles Palm&Co. of Chicago, and my heart skipped -- the door to Charles Palm&Co. of Bloomfield, CT was made up, to my father's design, of hundreds of pieces of wooden type. And even though the advertising that he did was mostly for tool and die companies, etc. in new england, he took great care with his letterheads and the layout of his ads, and was always on the lookout for interesting signage.
so anyhow, even though the two charles palms were probably unrelated, he would've been pleased to know he's linked, for better or worse, in the ether to another charles palm who had a way with words.
cheers,
robt. palm

Hello Robert,
Thanks for posting here! Over the years, we've heard from quite a few of the children of some of the early designers.
After a recent article in SC about Harrold Holland Day, I've been in contact with his son. John Ohnimus's son posted here before. Al Zenetti's daughter has been on the board quite a few times. I've also heard from relatives of the Rawson and Evans company. Welcome to the list!
