We decided to go for the local trade show and have spent a couple days putting together our display for the show.
We wanted our new logo to be the centerpiece of the display to build brand recognition locally... so a new sign was required. I had routed a second ship's hull a bit smaller than our main sign our front of our property. I spent the better part of a day routing and sculpting the 3 other pieces required for the sign assembly. I finished the ship yesterday and Bec will paint it in the next two days to finish the project. The ship goes beside the moon in the center oval.
The booth itself was made in three sections from 3/4 plywood. I machined the rivets from 30 lb precision board and glued them on before we primed and then painted the boards with Sophisticated Finishes rusty metal finish. They came out beautifully!
I used home made french cleats to hang the signs, making instant and level installation a snap when we set up the booth. The rest of the signs are all sample pieces we had around the shop previously. We will use the lecturn I built for our workshops on the right side of the booth. We'll use the two levels of the lecturn for our portfolio as well as a digital picture frame/slide show of our work. On the left side we will use a 4 foot table which Janis is sewing a denim cover and skirt for. It will house 3 models/sculptures. A carpet completes the show.
The show setup is Thursday which should go pretty quick. Then its three days of madness.
Almost ready to show in Yarrow...

Re: Home show update
Dan,
Everything looks great. Let us know how it works out for you. It will take a long time to really see the results, but it will be interesting to hear how the entire project panned out vs what you anticipated? Lots more work, less work, or about what you figured?

Ready to go!
We set up the booth when the doors opened first thing this morning, seeking to beat the rush of those setting up. It was also our plan to have our display ready to see by all the businesses who will be setting up during today and tomorrow morning. Being organized and ready early can hopefully make a good impression with these folks. We'll see if the business cards I left on the display disappear over the next day or so.
Our display went into the building and together flawlessly in mere minutes... no fuss or bother. I plugged in the extension cords and turned on the lights and the gold sparkled impressively. We recieved positive feedback instantly from those around us who were working on their displays. I hope it all works as well with the crowds we hope to talk to in the next three days - starting tomorrow afternoon.

Home show report
Two days down... one to go.
The home show has been a wonderful opportunuty to put our work in front of thousands and thousands of people. True to form (as always) we are marketing to one in a thousand. But with many thousands walking by each day we are reaching hundreds of interested people who are potential clients down the road. I am very pleased with hte response so far and it has been well worht the investment in my view. I have no doubt the resulting expousure will do us good for years to come.
This is the finished booth...
