Painting Letters
We have mixed One Shot Lettering enamel into the epoxy mix but had some varied results. At close range you can see a concentration of the color along the center of the letter where the epoxy is heavier. We have also had some yellowing of letters that had white mixed in the epoxy, so now we put on th...

Great information
Danny - Thanks for the great information. Very well done. We use this same method and have had excellent results. We use PB Resin made by Coastal Enterprises, but it's evident that you have a less expensive product. We don't have those stores here in Texas, but I'm sure there are similar type outlet...

Beautiful Surroundings
Just great scenery everywhere you look in Jackson Hole. Almost like Moore, Oklahoma, huh, Mike?
The barn in the photo is on a lot of calendars and paintings. I got to see it up close and personal one time when Mike and Darla gave me a guided tour. Every direction you turn there is another post card.

Oval Glass
I still have one of Rick's slumped oval glass pieces, but have never used it for anything. Like you I don't think he produced the pieces, but just bought them from someone else.
The job we have going now is an oval piece, but flat - so slumping.

Great Stuff
What a great looking sign! Like Mike, I'm not sure that I would ever do a job of this type, but it is very interesting to hear of the process. As others, I would love to see the step-by-step photos. Does anyone know where this might be done here in the states? And what does a process like this cost?...

Thanks a lot!
Now Carol, you've gone and done it. I will be thanking about that the rest of the day, and then start looking for it, and then get lost reading old articles and looking at work that I had forgotten. The day is ruined.

Next in Line
Yep, been there - done that. I still have those National Geographics from back in the 60's. Every time I plan to toss them I start thumbing through them and just can't find the courage to put them in the trash. There is every issue of Signs of the Times from the 50's until now, along with every issu...

Just like Mike
Mike - your job here as moderator is just like any other task that comes your way....you attack it with everything you have and "go the extra mile" to make it a success. To me, that's just the Mike Jackson approach - do it right or don't do it at all. No, you're not posting too many times....

More Cunningham
Today, we talk a lot about "passion" and how it relates to our business. Chet certainly had that, and that was what set him apart from others around him. One time he told me about traveling and coming across a great looking sign and taking a photo of it. As it turned out, the light wasn't ...

Cunningham Photos
Mike - I have a bunch of Chet's photos from back when we were exchanging pictures with each other. Tod used some of the slides I have for the museum, but you are welcomed to anything I have. Give me a few days to scan in some and I will send them to you. But it is going to cost you an arm and a leg....

Latex Paints on MDO
We use a lot of latex paints on MDO and have found little problem after the initial learning curve. We use 100% acrylic paints made by Porter and ordered from Rhino Paint Co. - Gary Anderson in Bloomington, Indiana. He has special mixed some very deep, rich colors. The paint is applied with a 3/8&qu...

Angel Gild?
I've ordered my Angel Gild kit from Sarah. Should any part be refrigerated or can the chemicals be kept at room temperature?
I know that I could e-mail Sarah directly, but some other folks may have the same question.

Hang in there
Mike has one of those jobs that none of us would envy. Whatever he does it will upset someone. I'm sure that Larry is upset over the decision, but it was the decision that Mike felt was the best, otherwise he would not have made it. Whenever we post here we agree to the rules. Since Mike is the &quo...

A sad reminder
Seeing that interior photo of the showroom in New York reminded me of the Raiford brothers' shop in Houston. They were two old time glass men whose work covered the Houston area. Their showroom was like going into a museum, something like Rick's. Shortly before their death someone broke into the sho...
