Yes Mike, it was Lande Weissman. You young whipper-snappers have all the answers. I ran into Lande several years ago when I was doing a workshop in Long Beach. He looked older than I remember. This has nothing to do with Margaret's thread, but I agree with Kent - it is amazing how you remember so ma...

Years ago I attended this Letterhead gathering in Moore, Oklahoma and there was a guy there doing gold leaf on parchment. He would brush the lettering on in Elmer's glue, let it dry, and then take a regular soda straw and blow gently on the glue. His breath was just moist enough to make the glue sti...

Great stuff.
We have the same problem of finding a place to buy it, other than getting it direct. It seems that the owners are Italian (not that's there's anything wrong with that) and not all that interested in the sign business. Recently there has been some turn over at the company and no one really is interes...

Me too
Yep, great animation. I bought the DVD with the excuse that it would be there for the grandkids to watch, but actually I'm the one that enjoys seeing it.
Mostly, I keep saying, "How did they do that?".

Well, we can't all have eternal youth...like Mike Jackson. But who could tell if he were getting old - his face is all covered up with hair.

Mark, if you could share any of that with me (providing you can find it) it would be greatly appreciated. I can copy whatever you have and return it unharmed. Pass the word along....if anyone has photos or video of those "early days" I would really like to copy them. I can convert VHS to D...

Fred's one of a kind.
It was another great meet at Fred and Marilyn's. In appreciation for 20 years of putting up with the rest of us, we presented Fred and Marilyn a check for $4,000 for a trip to Yellowstone. And they promise to come see you Mike. I think they are going around the first of May. Fred had some very nice ...

Lost in Cyberspace?
Dan...evidently your email did not make it to Texas. I emailed you about the miscommunication, but that must have been lost also.
Can you please email me Tom's contact information again? Thanks.

Well, duh.
I guess it would help if you had an address to send this stuff to.

Thanks Mike. If I read between the lines very carefully, I can almost see "If he's dumb enough to tackle a job like this".

Letterhead's History - Ken Burns style
In one of my weaker moments I came up with the idea of putting together a video history of the Letterheads. I have a Canon XL2 video camera and Adobe Premier Pro editing software, along with a few other bells and whistles. As I travel around the country I will be doing interviews with folks in our b...

Retirement Fund
Doug....have you noticed that Mike Jackson is a lot younger than most of us but sold his business way back there when he was just out of his teens and is now living the good life of semi-retirement? He does that fishing thing and takes pictures by the thousands, plus he has this good looking wife th...

What about....
I know this has nothing to do with signs and that none of us are lawyers (or even play one on TV), but I've often wondered about sporting events on TV where they show folks in the grandstands or news events where they show the crowds. I've used photos of Mike Jackson's face in international publicat...

Well, why does it not surprise me that Jackson would produce such a great site with these tremendous photos? Congratulations, Mike. You continue to do what you do best. Keep'em coming.

Well Doug, at my age I don't worry a lot about what goes on in my shorts. One of the negatives of using HDU was the dust. It stuck to everything in the shop - including you, and it wouldn't blow off with compressed air. At the end of the day you were gritty from head to foot and had to shower it off...

Thanks for the update. Several times I have taken folks by to meet and get to know Lola and to catch up on the latest news myself. She's always a gracious host. Normally, I try to take her out to eat, but sometimes she doesn't feel up to it. Once, she had just had the house exterminated and was poop...

Corafoam
We have been using Corafoam for almost a year now...and like it much better than the others on the market. It is manufactured here in Texas (Baytown, near Houston) and uses a different method than other HDU products. It produces very little dust and routes extremely well. The product began as an ins...
