Welcome Lesley, glad you enjoyed the other posts. Opaque Glass Surface gilding has many challenges such as exposure and additional heat. These jobs tend to have a short life especially facing West or South. Oil based Gold Size is what you should use. I would prefer slow size in an Oil-Varnish based ...

Spray Paint doesn't adhere well to glass. Cohesion is typically poor and can slide off when water gilding. Minimal difference if cured dry for future use. Your ratio in the question is reversed and is also a open ended question. Either mix will work, both end up drying... More water ratio may require Dams to keep an 1/8" thickness, Less water ratio may be too thick when poured and left to gravity an...

look at the concentrated amber varnish-linseed. if it was silicone, the dots would be clear, nothing would of stick.

I bought a barrel of Machined Lard Oil to use, brushes stay fresh for years. Some suppliers of the past used raw lard oils in which would attract insects and vermin.
