Finally able to get back on(cpu stuff)...Dave, Tony couldn't have said it better...love everything, but the thing that turns my crank too, are those hand drawings...I guess its a way of seeing how your head & hand work and as Doug mentioned earlier, shows just how much study and research goes in...

A fishy sign
Pat has been fishing.
Another Christmas client sign is complete and ready to go out the door. It is clear cedar with Bert's recess carved, the raised fish is carved from HDU and airbrushed with latex. The rest is 1shot painted on top of Nazdar clear.
The sign is 2 feet tall by 20 inches wide.

Sorry to hear that Mike...I don't leave the brush in the oil as you discribe, I clean the brush then work the trany oil into the heel, then squeeze out the access giving the brush a chisel look and store in my kit brush drawer that has a felt bottom, so have not had your experience, but good to know...

I use transmission fluid...when dipping the brush in you can watch it draw the paint from the heel...been using it for over 15 yrs. and have not noticed any harsh side effects on the brushes, washes out quickly with mineral spirits...I also have the Saphire Oil Mike is talking about, but have never ...

Yes Ron, this is two layers of one inch HDU, routed to allow a 3/4 inch box steel frame to sit in...There is paintable silicon only where the steel frame comes thought the HDU on the ends. This allow the steel frame freedom to expand and contract in the heat and cold since HDU does not expand. the r...

This is the sign we installed today. The landscaping is not completed. The raised letters, lilacs and hands are all hand cut and carved HDU The sign is finished with Benjamin Moore Aura on HDU with a steel insert frame. The letters and hands are gilded with 23kt gold.
